How power works

Rock, paper, steel.

No magic sits above the rest. Everything has a counter, and the counters follow real logic: what puts out fire, what stops a blade, what kills a mage. Who wins depends on what you bring and how big the fight is.

I

Nothing is untouchable

Every power, spell and weapon has something that beats it. Fights are won by reading the matchup.

II

Mages were hunted almost to extinction

Both sides wiped out most magic users and kept a few alive. People born with powers practise only where it's allowed.

III

Steel was built to answer magic

Anti-magic armour and tech cut mages down. On a battlefield they are one tool of many. In a small fight they can look broken.
